BYD’s first electric car to enter the UK market – the Atto 3 is now available for bookings and deliveries will start from this month itself. Shenzhen-based vehicle manufacturer BYD has partnered with British car dealership Pendragon to sell its electric vehicle (EV) model in the UK.
Atto 3 will be cheaper than Tesla
It starts at £36,000 (roughly Rs. 36 lakhs) but according to Pendragon CEO Bill Burman, the Chinese firm will bring an affordable EV to the UK that will be around £20,000 (roughly Rs. 20 lakhs) cheaper than the Ford Focus. These cheaper BYD models will also be priced at half the price of EVs sold by Tesla. Tesla starts at around £50,000 (around Rs 50 lakh) and goes up to £100,000 (around Rs 1 crore).

Passenger car with electric truck, bus and bicycle in the company’s market
BYD is one of the few Chinese brands to enter the UK market, along with Great Wall Motor and Chery, which manufactures electric trucks, buses and bicycles as well as passenger cars. These are equipped with many features, including cameras, sensors , radar and internet connectivity are included. According to reports, they can be used for remote monitoring by the Chinese government.
