Three Indians working in a cement factory in Mali have been kidnapped by the terrorists. The Ministry of External Affairs said in a statement on Tuesday that three Indian citizens working in a cement factory were abducted after an attack by armed attackers on 1 July. The incident took place at the Diamond Cement Factory in Kays in the western part of the western African country.

The Ministry of External Affairs made it clear that the attack was part of the widespread wave of violence on 1 July, during which several military and government establishments were targeted by terrorists in western and central gardeners. The identity of kidnapped Indian citizens has not yet been made public.

Indian Embassy in constant contact

Local officials of the Indian Embassy in Mali's capital Bamako are in constant touch with Law Enforcement Agencies and Factory Officers. Officials are also in touch with the families of the abducted Indians and are giving regular updates.

Government of India condemns

The government has strongly condemned the incident, calling it violence a condemnable act and has demanded the officials of Mali to take all the necessary steps to ensure the safe and quick release of the hostages. Senior officials of the Ministry of External Affairs are closely monitoring the situation and are in touch through diplomatic and security channels.

The Ministry of External Affairs has reiterated that the security of Indian citizens abroad is the highest priority and has advised all Indian citizens to be in touch with the Indian Embassy to take great care, be cautious and further assistance in Mali. The statement said, “The ministry will continue to provide all possible assistance and the abducted Indian citizens are committed to ensure a quick return.”
