Chief Minister Pramod Sawant
The Government of Goa has taken a big and commendable decision for the widow women of the state. Now those widows will be given a monthly financial assistance of 4,000 whose children are under 21 years of age. The decision was announced after the meeting chaired by Chief Minister Pramod Sawant. This initiative of the government will give financial strength to the widows and their families.
Under this scheme, 4,000 monthly assistance will be given in integrated form by mixing the assistance of 1,500 and 2,500 being given under two different schemes so far. This amount will be given directly to the beneficiaries through the Social Welfare Department.
'Plan from Antyodaya to Sarvodaya's thinking'
The Chief Minister informed that 2,049 beneficiaries are currently taking advantage of Griha Aadhaar Yojana. He said, widows will not need to cancel the home Aadhaar scheme. On the day of approval for the widow assistance scheme, the house base will be closed automatically. After this, the widows can apply directly for a pension of Rs 2,500 in the Social Welfare Department. If any of their children are under 21 years of age, then additional assistance under home base will continue to be available until the child reaches the age of 21 years. In this way, overall they will receive Rs 4,000 per month. According to the CM, this scheme reflects the thinking of Sarvodaya from Antyodaya of the government, where the needy are given priority.
