Iran's Supreme Leader Khamenei.
While the ceasefire recently implemented in the midst of Israel-Iran struggle has reduced some extent in West Asia, another big relief has come out for Iran. Iran's internal minister Eskander Momeni has given important information.
Momeni said that since the beginning of this year, about 4 lakh illegal foreign nationals have left the country in 6 months. He has described it as the result of strict immigration policy and strict monitoring of the Iran government.
Strictness on illegal immigration
After the cabinet meeting on Wednesday, Momeni said that stopping illegal infiltration and increasing number of unauthorized migrants has now become the priority of the government. He said, we can no longer run the old system, where the police arrest the intruders and send them back, and in a short time they again enter the country.
Significantly, Iran has been troubled by the illegal infiltration of Afghanistan and Pakistan for a long time. Border security was further strengthened amid recent military tension, which has led to a decline in the number of people entering the country illegally.
Joint policy needs
Momeni also admitted that a scattered system was working in the country to deal with immigration. He demanded a national integrated approach to the immigration policy, saying that permanent solution to this problem is not possible until the entire process is integrated from issuing visa to employment.
National Migration Organization Proposal
The internal minister said that the government has passed the draft of the formation of a new National Migration Organization and it is currently in review of Parliament. The objective of this institution is to bring the entry, monitoring and rehabilitation of migrants in the country on the same platform. After the conflict with Israel, ceasefire has given some relief to Iran to some extent, and now the government's entire focus is on internal and social balance. Homecoming of illegal migrants is being considered an important step in this direction.
