The monsoon session of Parliament will be called from 21 July to 21 August, 2025. In an official notification, the Ministry of Parliamentary Affairs confirmed that there will be no meeting on August 15 and security before the Independence Day celebrations on August 15. Parliamentary Affairs Minister Kiren Rijiju said that President Draupadi Murmu has approved the proposal to call both houses of Parliament during this period.
He wrote in a post on social media platform X, “The President of India has approved the government's proposal to call the monsoon session of Parliament from July 21 to August 21, 2025. There will be no meeting on 13 and 14 August in view of the Independence Day celebrations.”

The budget session of Parliament started on 31 January this year. Both Lok Sabha and Rajya Sabha were adjourned indefinitely on 4 April, which was the end of the first Parliament session of 2025.
First session of Parliament after Operation Sindoor
The dates of the monsoon session have been announced by the opposition leaders in the midst of an initial special session of Parliament to discuss Operation Sindoor. During the Sindoor operation after the Pahalgam terror attack, India targeted nine terrorist bases and military bases in Pakistan and Pakistan -occupied Kashmir.
This will be the first Parliament session after the Pahalgam terror attack in Kashmir, in which 26 citizens lost their lives. Both Pahalgam attack and Operation Sindoor are expected to be the major topics of debate during the session.
