Prime Minister Narendra Modi reached Ghana on Wednesday in the first phase of important foreign trips to five countries, where he was given a grand welcome at Kotoka International Airport. This journey is considered a historic step towards strong bilateral relations between India and Ghana. Prime Minister Modi has become the first Indian Prime Minister to visit Ghana in 30 years.
The tour is taking place at the special invitation of Ghana President John Droni Mahama. President Mahama warmly welcomed him at the airport. The Prime Minister was given 21 cannon salutes with the Guard of Honor.
According to the Ministry of External Affairs (Mea), the Prime Minister's visit is focused on further strengthening India-Ghana relations. During his visit, Prime Minister Modi will hold a detailed talks with the President of Ghana on important issues like investment, energy, health, safety, capacity building and development partnership. At the same time, the two leaders will decide further strategies to increase economic and defense cooperation.

Prime Minister Modi said in his statement before the visit that Ghana is an important member of the Economic Community of the African Union and West African states and is an important partner in the global south for India. He also said, “It would be a matter of respect for me to address Ghana's Parliament as fellow democrats.”

According to Mea, this address of the Prime Minister will show democratic values and historical relations of both countries, as well as a new direction to political cooperation. This tour is considered to be an attempt to empower India's “Africa policy” and increase trade and development cooperation at the regional level.
PM Modi will visit five countries by July 9
Prime Minister Modi's visit will run from 2 to 9 July, in which he will travel to Ghana, Trinidad and Tobago, Argentina, Brazil and Namibia. The purpose of this broad tour is to further strengthen India's global influence and give new pace to strategic partnerships.

After Ghana, the Prime Minister will visit Trinidad and Tobago from July 3 to 4, where he will meet President Christine Carla Kangalu and Prime Minister Kamla Prasad-Bissar.
After this, Prime Minister Modi will also visit Argentina, Brazil and Namibia, where he will meet political leadership and attend the 17th BRICS summit. This tour will not only strengthen India's diplomatic efforts but will also make the country's participation more impressive on global forums.
