The country's largest car company Maruti Suzuki sold a total of 1,67,993 vehicles in June 2025, which is 6% less than the 1,79,228 units of June 2024 last year. However, this time the export of the company, that is, exported well, which reduced the impact of the decline in domestic sales. The company said that there has been a decline in demand for small and affordable car segment especially in the domestic market, due to which the total sales were affected.
In the domestic market, the company sold 1,30,151 units in June 2025, while in June 2024 the figure was 1,48,195. Talking about passenger vehicle only, the sales fell 13% to 1,18,906 units. The company's best-selling entry-level and compact hatchback cars such as Alto, S-Presso, Swift, Baleno and WagonR fell 18% to 60,591 units, last year was 73,444 in June 2024.
SUV and other trains status
The sales of SUV segment vehicles such as Brezza, Fronx, Grand Vitara and Jimny also decreased to 47,947 units, while in June 2024 it was 52,373 units. EECO van sales were 9,340 units. Ciaz sedan sales increased slightly to 1,028 units, compared to 572 units this month last year.
Maruti's highest export ever
On the one hand, sales have decreased in the country for Maruti, while Maruti has exported the most cars ever in June 2025. Export rose 22% to 37,842 units, which was 31,033 units in June 2024. This shows that the company is now paying more attention to foreign markets. Supply to other brands was also a slight increase with 8,812 units.
Why the sale of the company decreased?
Rahul Bharti, Senior Executive Officer of Maruti Suzuki, has said that the biggest reason for the decline in the sales of passenger vehicles is a sharp decline in the demand for small cars. Earlier the sales of passenger vehicles used to grow by one and a half times the country's GDP growth, but now, GDP is growing at a speed of 6.5%, yet the sales of cars are almost stable. The biggest reason for this is that the segment of small and inexpensive cars is no longer participating in this growth. ” Rahul Bharti said that this is the problem of affordability. Since 2019, the prices of entry-level cars have increased by more than 70%.
