Investigation of Maharashtra 'Ladki Bahin Yojana' intensified.
In Pune district of Maharashtra, more than 75 thousand such women have been identified under the 'Chief Minister Majhi Ladki Bahin Yojana', who own the four -wheeler. These women were first included as beneficiaries, but now the government has started re -investigation of their eligibility. The number of potential ineligible beneficiaries that surfaced on this large scale have raised serious questions on the initial screening process of the scheme.
According to officials of the Special Cell set up to monitor the scheme at the Ministry of Ministry Building in Mumbai, the State Transport Department (RTO) has handed over two lists to the Pune Zilla Parishad. There are names of 58 thousand 350 women in the first list. 16 thousand 750 names in the second list. Four wheelers are registered in the name of all these women. This list has been sent to Anganwadi workers for recreation on ground zero.
20.8 lakh beneficiary women in Pune district
There are a total of 20.8 lakh women beneficiaries under the 'Ladki Bahin Yojana' in Pune district, which is the highest in Maharashtra. During the field investigation, it was revealed that about 58 thousand of these women really own four wheelers. 17 thousand cases are being confirmed through Aadhaar card. This process is still going on. So that the remaining names can be cross-verified.
More than 21 lakh applications
The scheme started during the election. At that time, almost all the applicants were given benefits, but after the elections, the government made it clear that only eligible women will get the benefit of the scheme. So far 21 lakh 11 thousand 991 women had applied for the scheme in Pune district. Out of this, 20 lakh 89 thousand 946 women are being given assistance of ₹ 1,500 every month.
Heavy economic burden on government
The state government has given a huge economic burden due to giving this amount to more than 2.5 crore women in the whole of Maharashtra. Field investigation has been going on for the last few months in rural talukas of Pune district. In the investigation so far, there is a disturbance in the initial data. This cross-verification is going on by the Department of Women and Child Welfare, so that only qualified beneficiaries get the benefit of the scheme.
