President of Russia and Prime Minister of Armenia
Russia's influence in South Cocks is continuously weakening. First Azerbaijan showed his attitude against Russia, now his old friend Armenia is also going strategic tricks against Putin. Some recent developments have made it clear that Armenia no longer wants to depend on Russia.
On the one hand, the tension between Azerbaijan and Russia is at its peak, on the other hand Armenia has also taken three such steps which can increase the problem of Putin.
Why did Azerbaijan increase tension in Russia?
Actually, two Azerbaijani brothers died due to tension between Russia and Azerbaijan. Two brothers named Hussain and Jiaddin Safarov were detained by Russian investigative agencies as part of an investigation into mafia style killings in Yakaterinburgh, a city in Russia.
Both of them died a few days later. The cause of the death of one was said to be a heart attack, while the investigation of the other's death is going on. Azerbaijan erupted due to this incident. The government at Baku dismissed the Russian claims outright and called it a political conspiracy. In this case, Russia has arrested six more Azerbaijani citizens on charges of murder.
Now Armenia is also changing the camp
Russia and Armenia have been strategic partners for decades, but now there is a big change in Armenia's policies. For Putin, this is nothing short of a shock. Let's know three big 'sports' of Armenia, who are taking him away from Russia –
1. Armenia moves from Azerbaijan towards peace
The Azerbaijan which has led to many wars of Armenia, is now trying to friendship with him. The meeting of Armenia Prime Minister Nicole Pashinyan and Azerbaijan President Ilham Aliyev are scheduled in Dubai at the end of July. There has been a conflict between the two countries since 1993 over Nagorno-Karkabakh. After the 2020 battle, in 2023, Azerbaijan again captured him. On 1 January 2024, that separate government named Artsakh was officially dissolved. Now Armenia is ready for peace agreement.
2. Preparation for ban on Russian media
Armenia's Parliament has recently proposed that the government news channels of Russia be banned. These are the same channels that show news in favor of Kremlin. If this ban is implemented, then this will be a step loosening of the Russian information system. It has come from the country which was once closest to Putin.
3. Rising friendship with China
Armenia is now considering China as an alternative to Russia. External Affairs Minister Arrat Mirozayan has clearly stated that our crossroads of peace 'project and China's belt and road initiative complete each other. Armenia now wants a partnership from China without any border. Till now, there is only Armenia in the three South Cocks countries Georgia, Azerbaijan and Armenia, which had not yet made any strategic partnership with China. But now it can change soon.
Danger bell for Putin
Till now Russia has believed in allied countries like Armenia, especially when it is struggling with Western pressures. But now that countries like Azerbaijan and Armenia are also getting away from Russia, it is clear that the game in South Cocks for Putin is completely changing. These steps of Armenia are not only a big setback for Russia's foreign policy, but it is also a sign that now Putin's grip is slowly getting loose.
