Pakistan's army chief Asim Munir is now eyeing the President's chair. This claim has been made by senior journalist of Pakistan Ejaz Ahmed. According to Ahmed, Munir now wants to take constitutional institutions directly under control by becoming President. This claim of Ahmed has stirred up the political corridors of Pakistan.
There are 2 reasons for this- the first reason has started discussing for the first 18 years of the army chief coming to this chair. In 2007, Pakistan's politicians and small officers of the army together removed the then President Pervez Musharraf from the post. Musharraf came to the President's chair as he was a military chief.
The second reason is that Asif Ali Zardari is to be on the President's chair. Zardari is the father of PPP President Bilawal Bhutto. PPP is also an ally of the ruling PML (Nawaz) party.
Why is Munir discussion about becoming President?
