BJP MP Kangana Ranaut
Floods are wreaking havoc in many districts including Mandi of Himachal Pradesh, due to which millions of people have been affected. The havoc of nature can be gauged from the fact that on June 20, the monsoon had entered, after which the death toll has increased to 78. 14 people have died in Mandi district alone. It was estimated that the flood has caused a loss of more than Rs 572 crore. Bharatiya Janata Party MP Kangana Ranaut also reached Kangana Ranaut from Mandi to take stock of the bad situation, where she spoke to the victims. During this time, Mandi MP said that there was no fund.
Kangana visited the disaster -hit Siraj Assembly on Sunday, 6 July. He targeted Sukhwinder Singh Sukhu government of the state. They say that we reach. Our scope is very low, but they do not have funds. Whatever fund the center gives, it comes through the state government. MP's work is limited, in such a situation, the question is arising, whether an MP cannot do relief work during the disaster in his area or he does not have funds at all? Let us know what an MP can do for his parliamentary constituency…
What did Kangana Ranaut give a statement?
First of all, let's talk about what BJP MP and actress Kangana Ranaut has said, 'The central government immediately sent a relief campaign. At the local level we gave relief material to the affected families. The Prime Minister may be on a foreign trip, but he is aware of what is happening here and the central government has come into action. As an MP, my job is to bring funds and bring the ground reality to the government. After coming to the market, it was very sad to see the situation here that people had such a tragedy. There is a lot of damage.
Kangana was questioned about reaching the market late and when he said, 'I have no cabinet, I have two brothers who are walking together. I reach, my job is to bring relief funds from the center, I have no funds, neither have any officers nor any cabinet. MP's work is limited, we are also hill, Himachali. The fund of the center comes to the state government, these people are sitting after eating money. I will not come to the fund, it is to give them (Himachal government).
The role and responsibilities of an MP
In a democratic country like India, the post of Member of Parliament i.e. MP is very important. He has many roles and responsibilities, whether from the ruling party or the opposition. It is the responsibility of the MP to design and monitor the program from making laws. However, they have no role in the implementation of programs. The MP represents citizens of his parliamentary constituency.
An MP also has the responsibility of 'power of purse', which means the power to approve and control the expenses of the government. This power is gained due to controlling budget and taxation. MPs play a role in the government's financial matters and use this power to ensure that the government's money is spent effectively and in the public interest.
What can MP do in his area?
Under the MP Local Area Development Scheme (MPLADS) launched in 1993, every MP is given Rs 5 crore every year for development in his parliamentary constituency. The scheme is operated by the Ministry of Statistics and Program Implementation (MOSPI). Under MPLADS, MP fund is sent through the relevant implementation agencies in the district.
The MP may recommend the development project in his area under MPlads. This may include roads, schools, hospitals, drinking water facilities and other basic infrastructure projects. Apart from this, the MP raises public problems in Parliament and appeals to the government to solve them. At the same time, he can work to promote cultural and social activities in his field. Apart from this, it can help provide relief to the people of your area during natural disasters. In case of flood, drought, epidemic, relief materials, ration, medical assistance, relief camps can be demanded as well as demanding relief package from the government.
