July 2, 2025, Dehradun: Uttarakhand’s Higher Education Department has extended the limit for registering for first-year college through the d Portal until July 10, 2025. Students who missed the original deadline of June 30 can now apply for first-year college classes at all state universities and colleges.
Extension helps applicants who are late
Higher Education Secretary Dr. Ranjit Kumar Sinha confirmed the extension and said it was given because students and schools asked for it. “A lot of students couldn’t sign up in time.” “The extension gives them a second chance,” he said.
Under the New Education Policy (NEP) 2020 system, the Samarth Portal is the main place where people can apply to become undergraduates. Students can use one application to apply to more than one college in Uttarakhand.
More than 57,000 people have already signed up.
57,571 students have signed up on the Samarth portal as of July 2, and 52,746 have already chosen their classes and institutions. Here are the registration numbers broken down by district:
Kumaun University: 23,914 people have signed up.
18,997 people have signed up to attend Sri Dev Suman Uttarakhand University (SDSUV) in Srinagar.
There were 9,835 applications at Soban Singh Jeena University.
Universities Agree to the New Deadline
A number of universities have changed the dates for admission to match the new limit. For example, SDSUV Gopeshwar has pushed back its internal cut-off date to July 10. Principal Prof. M.P. Nagwal told students to sign up right away because admissions and guidance will start in person soon after the deadline.
How to Get in After Registering
Universities will share merit lists, hold counselling sessions, and start final admissions as soon as registration ends. Students need to keep checking both the Samarth Portal and their university websites to see what’s new with selection and spot assignments.
How to Sign Up for the Samarth Portal
- Please go to ukadmission.samarth.ac.in.
- Fill out the application form with your personal and academic information.
- Upload the necessary files
- Pick the colleges and classes you want.
One last reminder for students
The extension is especially helpful for students who live in remote places or who have had trouble with technology before. The government has told all qualified applicants that they need to finish registering by July 10 because there isn’t likely to be another delay.
