Pensioners can submit the Life Certificate either physically or digitally.
How to submit Life Certificate: Every year between November 1 and November 30, government pensioners have to submit an annual life certificate to continue their pension. However, pensioners who are above 80 years of age can submit their life certificates from October 1. Hence, these pensioners will get two months to submit their annual life certificate. The last date for submission of Life Certificate is 30th November.
The Department of Pension and Pensioners’ Welfare has issued an Office Memorandum detailing the different methods through which a pensioner can submit the Annual Life Certificate. Pensioners can submit the Life Certificate either physically or digitally. Let us know five ways, using which a person can submit life certificate or life certificate.
Through Jeevan Pramaan Portal:
Pensioners can submit their life certificates using the Jeevan Pramaan portal (https://jeevanpramaan.gov.in/). The pensioner will have to download the Jeevan Pramaan portal from the portal. Thereafter, the pensioner will need a UIDAI-mandated device to submit his/her fingerprint. The fingerprint device can be connected to the mobile phone via OTG cable. The list of UIDAI mandated devices is available on the Jeevan Pramaan portal. Apart from this, these devices can be easily purchased from e-commerce websites.
Once the mobile app is downloaded and the fingerprint device is received, the pensioner has to register on the app, which is a one time process. Registration will have to be done by mentioning the pensioner’s Aadhaar number, mobile number and email ID.
Visiting the pension disbursing bank: The most common way to submit a life certificate is by visiting the pension disbursing bank and submitting the completely filled form. The forms are available at the counter of the bank.
Submitting Life Certificate through Postman sitting at home: The Department of Posts along with Electronics and Information Technology had launched the doorstep service of submission of Digital Life Certificate through postman in November 2020. In order to submit the Life Certificate using this facility, the pensioner needs to download the Postinfo app from the Google Play Store.
Submitting through Designated Officer: According to the circular, if the pensioner submits his life certificate through a designated officer, he will not be required to make a personal appearance. According to the scheme booklet issued by the Central Pension Accounting Office (CPAO), a pensioner who gives a life certificate in a form signed by any of the stated persons is exempted from showing personal presence.
Through Doorstep Banking Alliance: Doorstep Banking (DSB) is an agreement between 12 public sector banks. These banks include State Bank of India, Punjab National Bank, Bank of Baroda etc. According to the circular, this alliance has launched the service of collection of life certificates. In this, the DSB agent will come to the pensioner’s house and give service. The pensioner can book the service through mobile app, website or toll free number.
