The moneylender built the bridge on the river
This is the story of a bridge, whose history is more than 200 years old. A moneylender needed a boat to cross the river. The sailor taunted that if the money is with money, why not get the bridge built. This thing hit the moneylender's heart. The moneylender took the sailor as a challenge and built a bridge over the river in the next few months. This bridge still stands firmly. But now there are crisis on its existence.
Due to the construction of NH 124D and the proposal of a new bridge by the National Highway Authority (NHAI), there is talk of breaking this old bridge. However, local social workers and citizens are constantly contacting NHAI officials to save this heritage and demand its beautification and protection.
Traffic and business through river
Ghazipur is situated on the banks of river. Earlier, traffic and business used to be done through the river. Talk about about 200 years ago, then the Gangi river used to shed near Hiranandpur village on Saidpur Sadat Marg. After crossing this river, people used to reach the district headquarters or tehsil headquarters.
At that time, Bhola Saw of Sadat area was known as a big moneylender and he was to come to the tehsil headquarters in those days. He reached the banks of the river and made a voice to the sailor, then the sailor taunted him to build the bridge himself and after that taunting, the moneylender Bholanath decided that the boat would never travel from the future. After this, he built the bridge on his own expenses on that river which is still present today.
Will the bridge break?
A highway 124D is also coming out through this bridge. There is talk of breaking this bridge about the construction of that highway. The local people came to know about this a few days ago, then at that time some social workers took the initiative and contacted NHI officials and gave a memorandum to break this bridge. Because local people consider it a heritage, then the General Manager of NHI assured that the bridge would be repaired and beautified and kept unchanged.
But now, with the case of new bridge construction, the discussions of breaking the old bridge have intensified. Sanjay Singh, a resident of the area, has once again appealed to the NHAI officials that this old bridge should not be broken. He has demanded that it be kept unchanged for pedestrians and it should be repaired and beautified, so that the coming generations can also know this historical heritage and the story behind it.
In this regard, Ashutosh, who corresponded with NHAI, said that the manager who was given the first letter has been transferred and after that three more managers have changed. Currently, the construction work of the new bridge is going on next to the historic bridge. Ashutosh has expressed the hope that in the coming time, its historicity will be maintained by beautifying this bridge.
