The name of the Karnak Bridge was already named after the British Governor. After the name is finalized, the new name has finally been decided after going through the administrative process. Sindoor (east Karak) Bridge Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj is important for traffic between Terminus, Masjid Bandar and Mohammad Ali Marg in South Mumbai.

The Central Railway Administration declared the 154 -year -old Karnak bridge dangerous. After this, the Central Railway Administration removed the bridge in August 2022. The Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation has rebuilt the bridge to maintain the existing route connecting eastern and western regions in the mosque monkey area.
