PM Modi and TDP chief Chandrababu Naidu
President Draupadi Murmu has appointed TDP leader and former Union Minister Pusapati Ashok Gajapati Raju as the new Governor of Goa. Apart from this, two more appointments were made in which Professor Aseem Kumar Ghosh has been made the Governor of Haryana and former Deputy CM of Jammu and Kashmir, Kavinder Gupta has been made the Ladakh Governor of Union Territory Ladakh. Two of these three names belong to BJP while Gajapati Raju is from TDP. This has been seen for the first time in the 11 -year tenure of the Modi government when a non -BJP leader but the leader of the allies involved in the NDA has been made the governor.
TDP leader Ashok Gajapati Raju is counted among the party's strong and senior leaders. His seniority can be gauged from the fact that he has been an MLA seven times. Apart from this, the party has also handled the state as well as national level responsibility in the party. Even Raju was a part of the Modi cabinet in 2014 and has also worked as PM Modi's team for about four years. However, at the end of Modi's first term, the demand for special status of Andhra Pradesh had intensified after which Raju had to resign from the Modi government.
Chandrababu's TDP is at number two in Modi government
Last year i.e. in the Lok Sabha of 2024, the Modi government's return to the center was necessary for the third consecutive time, but the government was not as powerful than before. In 2014 and 2019, the BJP, which formed the government with an absolute majority, was reduced to 240 seats in 2024, while 272 figures were needed to form the government. In such a situation, the role of constituents involved in the NDA has become important. Although the NDA includes many parties, but if there is a party at number two after BJP, then it is the TDP of Chandrababu Naidu.
Forgetting the resentment between the BJP and the TDP about the special state for Andhra Pradesh, he contested together in 2024 and the TDP came to 16 seats. When the BJP could not reach the figure of 272 on its own, it proved to be beneficial in it with TDP. However, Nitish Kumar's party JDU also played an important role in Bihar. Because JDU stood at number three on the basis of seat in NDA. JDU came to 12 seats. When the BJP's seats decreased, the role of TDP and JDU became important in the government.
For the first time, the impact behind appointment
It can be said that TDP and JDU are the two most important pillars of the Modi government. In such a situation, whenever the government does some work, it is necessary to be with them and take them along. In that too, TDP cannot be angry. Therefore, this is probably the first time this has happened by the Modi government when the leaders of the NDA constituents have been included in the appointment of the Governor. With the appointment of Gajapati Raju, the government has also tried to give a message to its colleagues that it is standing with its constituents. Assembly elections are going to be held in Bihar in the next few months, no one knows what will be the politics of the state after the election.
Trying to convey a message before the monsoon session of Parliament
By appointing Gajapati Raju as the Governor of Goa, the government has also made a message to its allies that no one is being ignored at the center. The monsoon session of Parliament is also going to start, in such a situation, the government's best effort is that at least the leaders of the constituents of NDA should be kept in one thread. Especially for the TDP's Chandrababu Naidu in Andhra Pradesh, this government had opened its treasure in the budget as well.
