In preparation for the upcoming Kanwar Yatra 2025, the Ghaziabad Health Department has announced the setup of 36 medical camps along three major pilgrimage routes passing through the district. The initiative is aimed at providing round-the-clock healthcare support to devotees (Kanwariyas), who will be walking hundreds of kilometers during the holy month of Shravan.
24×7 Medical Staff, Life-Saving Medicines at Every Camp
Each medical camp will be equipped with doctors and paramedical staff available 24/7, along with essential medicines including antipyretics, antifungals, pain-relief sprays, Betadine lotion, and bandages. Crucially, camps will also stock anti-snake venom, anti-rabies injections, and tetanus vaccines.
According to health officials, 110 doctors and 200 paramedics will be deployed specifically for Kanwar service. Additionally, 36 ambulances—24 government and 12 private—will be stationed at every 5-kilometre interval on the route to attend to any medical emergencies.
All community health centers in Muradnagar, Modinagar, and Loni will also operate round-the-clock to cater to pilgrims.
Designated Routes and Camp Locations
Ghaziabad has defined three primary routes for Kanwariyas:
Tila Mod to Loni Border – Exclusively for foot pilgrims.
Kadarpur (Modinagar) to Delhi’s Seemapuri via Meerut Road – Also for pedestrian devotees.
Delhi-Meerut Expressway – Reserved for Dak Kanwar (fast-track pilgrims with vehicles). This route begins from Partapur in Meerut and passes through UP Gate into Delhi.
All these routes will be lined with well-equipped medical camps to ensure the safety and well-being of pilgrims.
The Ghaziabad administration has assured that all necessary health precautions and logistical arrangements are being made to ensure a smooth and safe Kanwar Yatra experience for lakhs of Shiva devotees expected to participate this year.
To enhance coordination, the health department is working closely with the district administration, police, and fire departments to provide integrated emergency response systems along the yatra routes. Rapid response teams will also be on standby at key locations prone to crowd surges or heat-related incidents.
Officials said that apart from medical care, clean drinking water, ORS packets, and rest zones will also be made available at several points to prevent dehydration and heat stroke cases among devotees.
