Actor-turned-politician Kangana Ranaut has finally responded to the big question of whether she sees herself becoming India’s Prime Minister one day. In a recent podcast appearance, Kangana gave an honest answer and shared why she feels she isn’t ready for such a responsibility.
Speaking on the YouTube channel Atman in Ravi (AIR), Kangana shared that she doesn’t think she’s competent for the role. Admitting that social service was never her focus, she said, “I have lived a very selfish kind of life.” She also spoke about how her political journey began with an unexpected offer that she decided to accept.
Kangana Ranaut’s Political Journey
Kangana started her political career in 2024 by joining the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) in March. Soon after, she contested the Lok Sabha elections from the Mandi constituency in Himachal Pradesh. She defeated her Congress rival, Vikramaditya Singh, by a margin of 74,755 votes.
Her election win grabbed headlines, but so did a controversy that followed soon after. Kangana was slapped by a CISF officer at Chandigarh airport the day after her victory. Later, she shared a video reassuring fans that she was safe and unharmed.

Kangana Ranaut On Rejecting Awards
Apart from politics, Kangana also reflected on her Bollywood journey during the podcast. She opened up about why she stopped accepting awards and attending award shows. She said, “I stopped taking awards. I stopped going to them. They asked why, and I said – Not from these people. I don’t have any respect for them. They make such lousy films. Why should I accept their awards? Who are they to be a jury for my work?”
She explained that she didn’t want validation from people whose work she didn’t respect. Kangana added, “How can I even send them a note? I said, ‘You can’t judge my work.”
On the film front, Kangana was last seen in Emergency, where she portrayed former Prime Minister Indira Gandhi. Despite critical praise for her performance, the film failed at the box office.
