July 6, 2025, Dehradun: In a huge step to improve public services all over Uttarakhand, the government has announced a huge plan to use modern technology to connect schools, hospitals, and healthcare education.
At a recent high-level meeting in Dehradun, officials said that the state government would be putting digital platforms and IT tools in schools and hospitals. This is a big step towards e-governance and public service delivery that is powered by technology.
What’s going on?
Officials talked about their plans to bring telemedicine, e-learning modules, and interactive screens to both urban and rural areas so that everyone can get a good education and basic medical care. Among these are:
Integration of Health and Education: E-learning portals with courses on hygiene, mental health, nutrition, and preventive care will now be available in local schools. These will be in line with what is already taught in schools.
Connected Hospitals: Both rural and urban hospitals will have live data systems that let patients register, have virtual consultations, and access their medical information online. Tele-ICUs will link experts in bigger hospitals to smaller facilities.
Community Outreach: Health tips, teleconsultation calls, and vaccination reminders will be sent directly to citizens through mobile apps and SMS alerts.
Leadership and Buildings
This change is in line with national policy trends such as NEP-2020 and digital healthcare efforts. The state’s Department of IT and Department of Medical Education will work together on a task group to make sure that hundreds of schools and district hospitals can use technology.
Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami talked about how useful this program could be and said that the government would “use AI, telehealth, and smart dashboards to bridge persistent rural–urban silos in education and health.”
Pilot projects and schedules
This year, 30 schools and 20 local hospitals from all over Uttarakhand will be the first to take part in a pilot phase. What these test spots will get is
- Digital health kiosks with booths for live consultation
- E-learning tools that are linked to state school boards
- Real-time screens for keeping an eye on health and school attendance
Benefits hoped for
The project wants to do the following by using technology:
- More access to health care in rural areas
- Better teaching effectiveness and student interest
- Streamlined hospital processes and better results for patients
Experts think that other Himalayan states that want to improve their facilities through digital means could use this model as a guide.
