On the death anniversary of Param Vir Chakra awardee Captain Vikram Batra, Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann paid an emotional tribute to the Kargil war hero, calling him the “Sher Shah” of the Indian Army and a symbol of unmatched bravery and patriotism.
Taking to social media platform X (formerly Twitter), Mann wrote,
“We salute from the heart Param Vir Chakra awardee Captain Vikram Batra, who sacrificed his life for the country’s protection during the Kargil War. The name of Shaheed Captain Batra Ji and his spirit of service for the nation will always remain in our hearts.”

Captain Vikram Batra, who laid down his life during the Kargil conflict in 1999, became a national icon for his courageous leadership and the famous war cry “Yeh Dil Maange More.” He was posthumously awarded the Param Vir Chakra, India’s highest wartime gallantry award.
