Bairabi- Sararang railway line completed
77 years after independence, Aizawl, the capital of Mizoram, has come on the map of the Indian Revale. Railways has completed the work of Bairabi-Garg railway line. In the month of November 2014, Prime Minister Narendra Modi laid the foundation stone of this railway line. Although this project was conceived in the year 2008, it got speed in the year 2014. The project cost about Rs 5022 crore.
According to officials, now the train will be seen running directly from the country's capital to Aizawl. The Bairabi-Airang railway line is about 51.38 km long. This railway line is convenient for traveling from Silchar to Aizawl in Assam. The Bairabi-Giranrang railway line will be inaugurated soon by Prime Minister Narendra Modi.
Challenges like landslide in the project
Till now only Bairavi was connected to Indian Railways in Mizoram, but now Aizawl has also joined Indian Railways, which fulfilled the dream of the rail network in the state. It took 11 years to build this section. There were also challenges like landslides in the project, but the officials associated with it successfully completed it, facing every challenge. This area is considered very sensitive in terms of earthquake.
100 years strength
In such a situation, the Railways has created a strong track for more than 100 years. Its design has been prepared with the help of engineers of Kanpur IIT and Guwahati. It is passing through more than 12 km of forests from the highway in many areas. The chief engineer of the project, Veenod Kumar, said that this line was dreamed in 1999. It has been completed after 26 years.
Tourism will get new direction
This route can prove to be a gamechanger for Mizoram. This will increase connectivity in the state. Tourism will also get a new direction. Not only this, it used to take eight hours for Aizawl before Silchar, but now it will take only three hours. There are about 153 bridges on this railway line. There is also a bridge number 196 in it. Its height is 104 meters. It is higher than the Qutub Minar.
