Myth: Agniveers’ future is insecure
Truth:
– For those who wish to become entrepreneurs – will get the benefit of financial package and bank loan scheme.
For those wishing to pursue further studies – 12th equivalent certificate and bridging course will be available for further studies.
– For those who want to get jobs- Preference will be given in CAPF and State Police. Along with this, many avenues will open for them in other areas as well.
Myth: Agneepath scheme will reduce opportunities for youth
Truth: Opportunities for youth to serve in the armed forces will increase. In the coming years, the recruitment of Agniveers will be nearly three times the current recruitment in the Armed Forces.
Myth: Regimental bonding will be affected
Truth:There is no change in the regimental system. In fact, it will become more powerful as the best Agniveers will be selected, which will further boost the unity of the unit.
Myth: Will hurt the effectiveness of the armed forces
Truth:
This type of short term recruitment system is present in most of the countries and hence it has already been tested and considered as the best method for young and agile army.
The number of Agniveers to be recruited in the first year will be only 3% of the armed forces.
Also, the performance of Agniveers will be tested before they are re-inducted into the army after four years. Therefore, the army will get trained and tried military personnel for the supervisory ranks.
Myth: 21-year-olds are immature and unreliable for the military
Truth:
Most armies around the world depend on their youth.
At no time will there be more youth than experienced people. Under the current scheme, there will be only the right mix of 50%-50% of the youth and experienced supervisory ranks. And gradually there will be a big gap in it.
Myth: Agniveers will be a threat to society and will ally with terrorists
Truth:
It is an insult to the ethos and principles of the Indian Armed Forces. Such youths who wear uniform for four years, they will be committed to the country for the rest of their lives. Still, thousands of people retire from the armed forces with skill, but there is no instance of them joining the anti-national forces so far.
Myth: No Counseling for Ex-Armed Forces Officers
Truth:
Extensive consultations were held with the serving Armed Forces officers for the last two years.
This proposal has been prepared by the officers of the Military Department. The department itself is a gift of this government.
Many former officials have recognized and welcomed the benefits of the scheme.
