Sinus infection in monsoon: The monsoon season brings cold winds, greenery and freshness of rain, but with this many health problems also increase. One of these problems is a common problem of sinus. Many people make complaints like continuous headache, nose shutdown, sore throat and heaviness near the eyes during the monsoon. These symptoms often indicate sinus infections or sinusitis. According to doctors, there is a high risk of moisture, allergies and infection during the rainy season, which increases this problem.

Sinus are some hollow spaces present in our facial bones, which are around the nose in four places around the nose, in the forehead, inside the cheeks, on both sides of the nose and behind the eyes. The main task of these sinuses is to maintain the flow of air in the body, keep the head lighter and echo the voice. All these sinuses are covered with a thin membrane that makes mucus (phlegm), so that dust, bacteria and other harmful particles cannot go inside the nose.

When these sinuses are blocked or swelling, then mucus starts accumulating. The same situation is called sinusitis or sinus infection. In this, a person starts having problems like headache, nose shutdown, heaviness on the face, pressure from the nose, pressure and throat irritation. Now we understand which factors are due to which the problem of sinus starts-

Moisture and bacteria

Senior Physician Dr. Kamaljeet Singh Canthe in Delhi It is said that moisture in the atmosphere increases in the mission, which increases the chances of fungal and bacterial infection. When these bacteria and fungus reach the sinus cavity through the nose, there is a situation of swelling and jam. This is the reason that during the monsoon season, people are more disturbed by signs like running their nose, closure and heavy headache.

The possibility of allergy increases

Apart from this, the problem of allergies also increases in this season. Due to rain, pollen, fungus and dust present in soil, leaves and atmosphere are spread in the air. People who have allergic rhinitis or allergic problems have more problems in the monsoon. Due to these allergies, sinus cavity can cause swelling, which causes the nose and increases the sinus pressure.

Repeated colds

Another reason is frequent cold and cold. There is rapid fluctuations in temperature during monsoon. Sometimes it is very cold, sometimes humid heat. Such changes affect the immunity of the body and people quickly fall in the grip of colds and colds. If the cold is not cured for a long time, it can gradually turn into sinus infection.

Lack of ventilation

At the same time, lack of ventilation in monsoon can also increase the problem of sinus. In this season, people keep the doors and windows closed so that moisture and mosquitoes do not come in. But this does not cause the right flow of air inside the house and the allergies and bacteria present in the atmosphere constantly affect the body. This can worsen the symptoms of the sinus.

What doctors recommend?

Doctors recommend that special care should be taken to clean the nose and throat during the monsoon. Taking steam, gargling with lukewarm salt water and drinking more water as well as keeping the body hydrated helps in preventing infection. If the symptoms of sinus persist for more than three days, then get it checked.
