Stuntman's life is not easy
We enjoy watching the danger action scenes on the big screen, seeing them, we jump on our seat. But have we ever wondered who does this amazing stunts who make actors a star? These are stuntman who threatens his life and make the hero 'hero' on screen. If there are big action scenes, fighting, jumping from high building, entering the fire or reversing the car, they do all the dangerous work stunts. But why do these real heroes get less money and do not make proper arrangements on the set for their safety? Why is his life so 'cheap' behind Bollywood's dazzle? This question remains even today and after every major accident, this question gains momentum.
Recently, a very tragic accident occurred during the shooting of a South film. Eminent stuntman SM Raju was killed in a terrible accident while doing a stunt of the car. Hearing this news, the entire film world got a shock. Raju was doing a dangerous car overturning scene and this incident happened at the same time. This incident has once again raised big questions on the safety of actors who stunts in the film industry and the money received to them. Actor Vishal also expressed grief over Raju's death and said that Raju was a brave person who had done very difficult and dangerous stunts in many of his films. Raju's death has once again told how difficult the work of the stuntman is. But the money they get for this difficult task are very less.

The real hero of cinema works in very few money
Bollywood's big stars take 50 crores to 100 crores or more for a film. After each of his films, his identity and earnings increase even more. They have their own air conditioner vanity van, have their bodyguards and they enjoy all kinds of facilities. On the other hand, these stars get very little money to those who have stunted their lives to show 'Hero' on screen. These artists who live a life of oblivion have neither praise nor more money.
How much is the stuntman's earnings?
The biggest union of stunt artists in Mumbai, Mumbai movie Stunt Artists Association, determines wages for its members. But these money is also a very small part of a day's earnings of a big actor. Those who do stunts get money according to every shift (about 8 to 12 hours of work), they do not get salary every month. This means that when there is no work, then they do not have any money.
Stuntman's earnings
- Stunt assistant
Stunt Assistant gets about 8000 rupees for every shift. These are the people who help the main stuntman or do a little less dangerous stunts.
- Stunt Artist (Junior)
Stunt artist gets about 6000 rupees for every shift. These artists do not do big stunts. They do small stunts like running fights in the background, or running running and hence their earnings are less than stunt assistants.
- Stunt Duplicate (Senior Stunt Artist)
Stunt duplicate is a senior stunt artist, who charges Rs 15000 for a shift. These actors look fit like an actor. Often these stunts perform duplicate for the film's leading hero or villain. Their job is the most dangerous, because they not only have to do stunts, but also have to match the actor's gesture and body texture.
Many facilities are not available
Apart from this, they also get some more money (risk) for the halting (risk) and dangerous stunts during shooting fare, food and drink or outside shooting. However, this 'Risk Pay' is also often a very small part of their shift money, which is much less than that big danger, which they face. Even today, the stuntman of the film industry does not get facilities like Provident Fund (PF) or gratuity, which is available to a paved job. Till now, the insurance he received was only till the accident at the time of shooting. But due to Akshay Kumar, now he has started getting basic facilities like health insurance.
Stunt director
Stunt directors are the life of the film's action scene. These are the people who make these dangerous stunts, make their full planning, decide the rules of safety, and get them done properly. Their job is not only to get stunts, but also to ensure that all security items are present, the team has got the right training, and every stunt should be done with full care. They work closely with the director, cameraman and actors so that the action scene in the brain of the director can be really put on the screen.
Their earnings are slightly better than the stuntman, but still less than the top actors or directors of Bollywood. A stunt director in India gets about 7-10 lakh rupees for the film. An experience stunt director who has experience 8 years or more, he charges Rs 15 lakh for a film.
Identification is being found worldwide
Recently, it was decided to add a new category of 'Best Stunt Design' at Hollywood's greatest honor, Oscar Awards. This is undoubtedly a big win for stunt artists. But in our country's glitter film industry, stunt actors still have to fight for their rights, right money and complete security. It is such an irony that those who thrill our cinema by putting their lives at stake, their life is still considered so cheap. Now the time has come for Bollywood to recognize the hard work of their anonymous heroes and give them the respect and security that they deserve.
