A lot of hard work was done to make the program- Anuradha Paudwal
Regarding the program, Anuradha Paudwal said, 'This was a wonderful experience for us. A lot of hard work has been done to make it. I am happy to see that so many children are part of this production. This is an important way to spread our culture and make them interest in religion. The whole experience was very beautiful, was very well prepared.
The script, which was taken from more than 20 editions of the Ramayana and Gurudev Sri Ravi Shankar, invites the audience to find the epic again. This immersive experience mixed classical dances, folk forms, papatri, original music and digital innovation to portray many aspects ranging from love, grace and sacrifice to knowledge and dedication of Sita's life.
Directed with sensitivity and artistic honesty on behalf of Srividya Darachaswi, this production follows the tradition of his previous mega works like The Rhythm Vidin at Lincoln Center New York and The Cosmic Rhythm at the World Culture Festival in New Delhi, with more than 4,600 artists from 45 countries to come together.
'Mumbai's response was great'
Speaking after the performance, Srividya said, 'Mumbai's response was very good. This confirms that stories like Sita, mentioned with emotional honesty and artistic integrity, will always make people home in the hearts of people. For me, this journey began as the search for Sita's life, different moments of life, steps taken by him, the way they live, everything that is really inspiring for me personally. It has been very satisfactory to present it in such a form that is accessible and relevant to today's audience.
Apart from thrilling the audience, the show has supported the education of more than 1 lakh rural and tribal children in 1327 Art of Living Free Schools as a fund raising program. In the coming months, this production is expected to visit other Indian cities and international sites, which will continue their journey to awaken devotion and knowledge through a fictional story.
