If the name of a company is first taken in the Indian automobile market, then it is Maruti Suzuki. This company, which sells the most vehicles every month, has dominated the dominance for years. But a shocking trend has been seen in the first half of the year 2025 i.e. H1 (January to June). While Maruti faced a decline in sales, a company like Skoda registered a bang growth and left behind.
Skoda became a new game changer in the market
In H1 2025, Skoda sold 36,194 units with a tremendous 134% early growth. A year ago, in H1 2024, Skoda sold only 15,462 vehicles. The credit for this edge is being given to a large extent to Skoda's new car “Kailak”, which attracted people a lot.
Maruti Suzuki dominates, but with a decline
Maruti Suzuki sold 878,705 vehicles during this period, compared to 898,905 units in the same period last year. That is, the company faced an early decline of 2%. Although this number is still the highest, but it lagged behind in terms of growth.
Mahindra and MG also perform well
Mahindra gained 20% with the sale of 301,194 units, while MG Motor registered 17% growth by selling 31,602 units. Toyota also achieved an annual growth of 13% by selling 161,531 units and Kia 142,139 units.
Shock to big companies
Big companies like Hyundai, Tata, Honda and Nissan have lost this half. Hyundai suffered 8%, Tata also lost 8%, Honda 13% and Nissan 22%. Reno was the biggest hit, the sale of which fell to 31%. Companies like Jeep, Citron and Volkswagen were also in the list of degrees.
A slight increase in total sales
In the first half of 2025, a total of 14 major companies together sold 21.89 lakh units, while last year the same figure was 21.60 lakh units. That is, a slight growth of overall 1.3% was seen.
