Union Road Transport and Highways Minister Nitin Gadkari inaugurated the country's second longest cable -based Singdoor Bridge on Monday (July 14) in Shivamoga, Karnataka. This grand bridge is built on Sharavati backwater, which connects Ambaragodalu and Kalasavalli villages in Sagar taluk of Karnataka.
Minister Nitin Gadkari has shared pictures of this huge bridge on social media. Along with this, he said, 'Union Minister Prahlad Joshi, former Karnataka Chief Minister BS in Shivamoga, Karnataka today. Bridge built at a cost of Rs 472 crore
Gadkari said that this bridge constructed at a cost of Rs 472 crore will increase in contact for many villages of Sagar and Hosanagara taluk, as well as reach out to major pilgrimage sites like Sigandur Chaudeshwari and Kollur Mookambika Temple. He said that this much awaited project would solve decades -old challenge, facilitates traffic, encourage regional economic activity, and will bring significant improvement in mobility throughout the region.
'Transport system will improve'
At the same time, the Union Minister said in his address that under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, new dimensions of infrastructure development are being established in the country. He said that the Singdoor Bridge is not only for Karnataka but for the whole country. This will not only improve the transport system but will also create new opportunities for tourism and employment.
People will get better connectivity
This bridge has been constructed at a cost of Rs 472 crore. The Singedoor Bridge is considered a milestone for social and economic development of the region. This will provide better connectivity to the local people, business will be easier and devotees will now be able to reach the Singedoor Chaudeshwari temple directly without any difficulty.
Chief Minister Siddaramaiah expressed resentment
Expressing his displeasure over the issue, Karnataka Chief Minister Siddaramaiah said that he was not sent any invitation to attend the inauguration program. Recently, Siddaramaiah requested Gadkari to extend the date of the ceremony. At the same time, he has now claimed that he was not invited to this inauguration ceremony.

CM Siddaramaiah, while sharing the post on social media, said, 'None of us will participate in this program. We have not received the invitation. I had talked to Nitin Gadkari on the phone to extend the date of the program. He had also assured to consider it, but perhaps BJP leaders pressured him and they inaugurated the Singdoor Bridge without telling us. My program has been held elsewhere before, so I am going there.
At the same time, Union Minister Nitin Gadkari has made it clear that on 11 July 2025, the CM of Karnataka was sent an invitation to the Bridge inauguration ceremony.
