The move is part of the Punjab government’s initiative to waive loans of SC families who have long been under the burden of debt. By issuing official loan waiver certificates, the government aims to provide both financial relief and dignity to thousands of struggling households.
AAP Government Focuses on Social Equity
This development falls under the broader welfare agenda of the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) government, led by Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann, which has emphasized the importance of inclusion and direct support to vulnerable communities. The distribution of certificates signals that the administration is serious about delivering on its promises, especially to those historically left behind in mainstream economic progress.
Balbir Singh Thanks CM Bhagwant Mann
Dr. Balbir Singh, while addressing the gathering, reaffirmed the government’s resolve to eradicate debt traps and ensure better opportunities for SC families in areas like education, health, and employment. He also thanked CM Bhagwant Mann for providing the political will and resources to implement such progressive policies.
The initiative has been welcomed by beneficiaries, many of whom expressed relief and gratitude, saying the waiver has brought them a new lease on life.
This initiative falls under a larger umbrella of targeted development programs launched by the Punjab government to empower weaker sections of society. Officials confirmed that more than 25,000 families across Punjab are expected to benefit from similar debt relief schemes in the coming months.
Dr. Singh also praised Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann for putting people-centric governance at the heart of his agenda. “For too long, these communities have been neglected. Today, under CM Mann’s leadership, they are finally getting justice,” he said.
More camps for certificate distribution are scheduled in other parts of Malwa and Doaba regions over the next few weeks.
