High bp in young age: High blood pressure i.e. high BP was often considered to be aging disease, but now it is also rapidly affecting the youth. Increasing high BP cases among people aged 25-35 years has become a cause of concern for health experts. According to the doctors, the big reason for this is today's changing lifestyle and some bad habits, which we are doing inadvertently everyday.

Blood pressure means blood pressure is the pressure of blood flow in our body, which comes out of the heart and reaches the rest of the body through the arteries. When this pressure is more than normal, it is called high blood pressure or hypertension. It is a “silent killer”, as its symptoms do not look much clear in the beginning, but gradually it can damage the heart, kidney, brain and eyes.

If high BP is not controlled in time, it can affect even heart attack, stroke, kidney failure and eyesight. There can be many reasons behind increasing blood pressure – some physical, some mental and some lifestyle habits. Let's know why high BP is:

Eating too much salt

Hidden salt is a major cause of high BP in our daily meal. Processed food, chips, salty, ready-to-eat items and outside food are very high in sodium. Excess salt prevents water in the body, which increases pressure on blood flow and BP goes up.

Habit of sitting for hours

For a long time, sitting without moving, ie the sedantry lifestyle has become the most common reason for high BP among the youth. Due to lack of office work, screen time and exercise, blood flow is not correct and pressure on arteries increases.

Lack of sleep and stay in stress

Lack of sleep and chronic stress are directly to increase blood pressure. When there is no sleep or the brain remains under constant stress, the level of hormone like cortisol in the body increases, which leads to heart rate and BP up.

Excess intake of junk food and caffeine

Drinking burgers, pizza, cold drinks, energy drinks and persistent tea and coffee can increase blood pressure. These things not only increase weight, but also affect BP by increasing salt and caffeine levels in the body.

Smoking and alcohol addiction

The habit of cigarette or alcohol at a young age is causing high BP among many youth. Nicotine shrinks blood vessels and blood pressure starts moving rapidly. Alcohol also makes the heartbeat abnormal and unstable BP.

What to do to rescue?

Exercise or walk at least 30 minutes daily

Distance from salt and processed food

Get the night sleep (at least 7-8 hours)

Meditation to manage stress, adopt yoga

Keep checking regular BP, even if there is no symptom
