Champions Cup closed
PCB has announced the closure of the Champions Cup that started last year. In order to improve Pakistan cricket further, the Champions Cup started in a very high profile manner in the year 2024. In this, former Pakistan cricketers Sakalain Mushtaq, Waqar Yunus, Misbah ul Haq, Shoaib Malik and Sarfaraz Ahmed were kept a mentor of five teams on a big salary, but within a year, the tournament got air. The PCB has also given the reason to shut down the Champions Cup.
PCB explained the reason
According to reports, PCB says that this tournament was started to improve domestic cricket, but it could not meet its expectations. Apart from this, the plan of mentorship also proved to be completely failed. Due to this, the contract of five mentors has also been abolished, while the tournament was planned to run for three seasons, but it was closed only after a season.
In the first season of the Champions Cup, Shahin Shah Afridi, Mohammad Rizwan, Shadab Khan, Mohammad Haris and Saud Shakeel were given the command of different teams. The first season was won by the paths captained by Shadab Khan. Despite this, this tournament did not get much response.
PCB made a new announcement
PCB has made a new announcement for the 2025-26 seasons of domestic cricket. The session will begin on August 15 with the Hanif Mohammad Trophy, which will be played in Karachi, Multan, Bahawalpur and Rahim Yar Khan. 31 matches will be played in the four -day tournament. 12 teams will participate in it. Apart from this, PCB has announced many home tournaments.
