Why did Lata Mangeshkar sing barefoot?
This story is about 51 years ago. It is a matter of 1974 when Lata Didi tied the Saman in the prestigious Royal Albert Hall in London. He sang songs like 'Aye Mere Watan Ke people' and 'Aaye coming' here. Singer Javed Ali had told about an incident related to this program of Lata ji, “When Lata ji was to come on stage, he was introduced by Dilip Kumar Saheb. Lata ji came on the stage barefoot. Dilip Kumar said that here it is very cold that you can fall ill. Then Lata Mangeshkar said that Lata Mangeshkar said that I have never been singing a song, because I have never sung a song, because I have a prayer for me.”
First Indian singer to perform in Albert Hall
When Lata ji performed in the Royal Albert Hall, it was not only a matter of respect and pride for him, but it widened the chest of every Indian with pride. Lata Mangeshkar became the first Indian singer to perform there. Recalling the incident, veteran singer Sonu Nigam said, “Lata Ji was confused during the performance. Albert Hall was one of the most reputed places to perform.
