Diljit Dosanjh is back on track with Border 2, at least for now. The Federation of Western India Cine Employees (FWICE) has lifted its ban on the actor, allowing him to continue shooting for the war film. This decision came after producer Bhushan Kumar personally stepped in and requested the federation to lift the ban.
But the controversy is far from over. While Diljit is cleared for Border 2, filmmaker Ashoke Pandit has issued a sharp warning, anyone casting him in the future should “be prepared for consequences.”
FWICE Lifts Ban On Diljit Dosanjh For Border 2
Speaking to India Today, FWICE president BN Tiwari confirmed the decision. “Yes, the ban has been revoked for this project,” he said. The ban has been lifted only for Border 2, and not for any of Diljit’s future projects.
Ashoke Pandit also made the industry’s stand clear. He said, “So, we have non-cooperation against Diljit continuing. Anyone else who casts him must be prepared for consequences. The Federation won’t be responsible for the financial losses that might follow.”
Meanwhile, Diljit silenced all the rumours about his replacement. Just a day before the ban was revoked, he dropped a behind-the-scenes video from the Border 2 sets. The video showed him walking out of his vanity van in uniform and heading for a dance shoot. His caption said it all: “BORDER 2.”
The Sardaar Ji 3 Controversy
Diljit’s troubles began after he worked with Pakistani actor Hania Aamir in Sardaar Ji 3. The movie, which released overseas on June 27, sparked outrage in India. The backlash came in the wake of rising Indo-Pak tensions, including the Pahalgam terror attack on April 22 and India’s Operation Sindoor on May 7.
FWICE had earlier slammed his casting in Border 2. They wrote a letter to Bhushan Kumar, JP Dutta, Nidhi Dutta, and director Anurag Singh, saying they were “deeply disappointed” with Diljit being cast in a patriotic film like Border 2.
