The first batch for Amarnath Yatra left today (PTI)
Amidst tight security after the Pahalgam terror attack, the first batch of pilgrims for the annual Amarnath Yatra left Jammu on Wednesday. Jammu and Kashmir Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha flagged off the first batch of pilgrims. Around 600 additional companies of paramilitary forces have been deployed for security, which is the largest deployment for travel safety so far.
The devotees who leave for the Amarnath Yatra have left for Baba's darshan chanting the bomb bomb bomb. Talking to NewsNCR India, devotees say that we have called us Baba. So we have come here. Meanwhile, after leaving the first batch from Bhagwati Nagar Yatri Niwas, Lieutenant Governor of Jammu and Kashmir, Manoj Sinha said about the Amarnath Yatra, “Shri Amarnathji Shrine Board has made excellent arrangements for the yatra. Jammu and Kashmir police and security forces have also made strict security arrangements. A large number of devotees from all over the country have come here. Have arrived here. I hope that this year's journey will be better than the previous trips. “
The 38 -day pilgrimage for the Amarnath Cave Temple located at an altitude of 3,880 meters in Kashmir will start from 2 routes from the valley from July 3 tomorrow. These 2 routes are the traditional 48 km long Nunwan-Pahalgam in Anantnag district and small (14 km) but more steep climbing Baltal route in Ganderbal district. The journey will conclude on 9 August next month.
More than 3.31 lakhs registered
Officials say that so far more than 3,31,000 devotees have registered themselves for this year's visit. Along with this, registration of devotees coming here for pilgrimage has also been started on the spot. About 4,000 tokens have been distributed in the last 2 days.
Earlier, Jammu's Mandalayukta Ramesh Kumar said yesterday, “The first batch of the yatra will leave for Kashmir from Jammu Base Camp in Bhagwati Nagar tomorrow. Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha will flag off it.”
Regarding the preparation of the yatra, the officials said that the devotees will be transported to Pahalgam and Baltal base camps amidst traffic restrictions, heavy security arrangements and strong security arrangements on Jammu-Srinagar National Highway. During this period, traffic restrictions will be imposed on different routes from July 2 to August 9. Along with this, people will also be given advice about travel.
Bhagwati Nagar Yatri Niwas in Jammu works as a primary base camp for devotees from all over the country, before they move towards the cave temple of Amarnath located in the royal Himalayas of South Kashmir. The Lieutenant Governor reviewed security and other arrangements for the yatra in a high level meeting to prepare for the yatra. The Lieutenant Governor is also the Chairman of Shri Amarnath Shrine Board (SASB).
