Noida News: Traffic restrictions have been reimposed on the Mahamaya Flyover in Noida after a two-month pause, as the Noida authority resumed replacement of aging expansion joints on the structure, officials said on Monday.
Repair Work On Mahamaya Flyover Starts, Take THIS Alternate Route Until Traffic Restrictions Are in Place
The 450-metre-long flyover, a key connector between Noida and Delhi, especially for commuters from sectors 37, 44, 45, and Film City, offers access to Kalindi Kunj, Sarita Vihar, Shaheen Bagh, and Jamia Nagar. It also links the Noida–Greater Noida Expressway to the national capital.
Main Flyover Remains Open
While the main flyover remains open to vehicular movement, restrictions are currently in place on the loop connecting Sector 94 near Okhla Bird Sanctuary metro station to Kalindi Kunj. Earlier, Delhi-bound traffic was diverted through this loop during VIP movement when the project was temporarily halted in May.
Satinder Giri, senior manager (civil) at the Noida authority, said, “This is the first time we are replacing all 36 expansion joints on the flyover. Repair work on the main carriageway will be done at night from 10 pm to 5 am to minimise traffic disruption, while loop work will continue during the day.”
Alternate Route Suggestion:
Commuters heading towards Delhi from Noida sectors 37, 44, and 45 can use the Noida–Greater Noida Expressway and exit at the Dadri–Delhi Road intersection, then proceed via the Kalindi Kunj–Okhla route using the OKH (Okhla–Kalindi Kunj–Hapur) road to avoid the restricted loop section. Alternatively, commuters can also take the Botanical Garden Metro Station route to cross into Delhi via Sarita Vihar.
The project is being executed in phases, with the main carriageway repairs happening during the night between 10 pm and 5 am to reduce daytime congestion. However, the loop work—which is narrower and sees frequent bottlenecks—will continue during the day, causing intermittent delays for vehicles, especially those entering Delhi.
Motorists are advised to plan their journeys accordingly and expect minor delays during peak hours.
