'Kannappa' is the story of a young hunter named Thinnadu who is an atheist. However, on a lucky day, he discovers a Shiva Lingam in the forest and offers offerings to the idol. The film focuses on how that person becomes the biggest devotee of Lord Shiva with Hindu mythology. The story of Kannappa is based on mythological texts, which mentions the person being a saint.
