Symbolic picture.

The borders are strict but there are some names which are ripped by these walls every six months. The lists of prisoners and fishermen in which are tied to the desire to return home and expects to meet their loved ones. Every six months of humanity knocks an across the wall, when India and Pakistan share the list of their prisoners and fishermen with each other. In 2008, a bilateral counselor access agreement was reached between India and Pakistan. Under this, a list is shared between the two countries on 1 January and 1 July every year.

Under this, India and Pakistan have shared a list of prisoners and fishermen in custody with each other on Tuesday together through diplomatic channels. This time India has given the names of 382 civilian prisoners and 81 fishermen to Pakistan, who are being considered as Pakistani or potential Pakistani.

Pakistan shared the list of 193 fishermen

In response, Pakistan has shared the list of 53 Indian national prisoners and 193 fishermen, but the real story begins when India says that Pakistan should release 159 Indians as soon as possible, who have completed their sentence. India has also demanded that 26 such people should be immediately given access to the embassy, which are being considered Indian but till now they have not been allowed to contact India.

Pakistan should confirm the citizenship of these 80 people

India has also asked Pakistan to confirm the citizenship of 80 such people who are in jails of India and who are being considered Pakistani. So that they can be sent to their country. The government says that since 2014, 2,661 Indian fishermen and 71 civilian prisoners have returned from Pakistan till now, including 500 fishermen and 13 civil prisoners released since 2023. This tradition has been going on under the 2008 Embassy Accessible Agreement.
