A dirty bomb is a device that uses explosives to scatter radioactive materials. This bomb is not as destructive as a nuclear explosion, but it can harm the population of a large area.
Now the tension between Ukraine and Russia is increasing beyond the limit.
Ever since Ukraine attacked the Crimea Bridge, Russia has been completely furious. He is constantly destroying the cities of the city with missiles and drone attacks. Russian forces have also destroyed Ukrainian power plants, leaving many cities in darkness. Now Russia’s defense chief claimed on Sunday that Ukraine was preparing to use a radioactive device to provoke it. A ‘dirty bomb’ is a mixture of explosives such as dynamite with radioactive powder or pellets. It is not as dangerous as a nuclear explosion, but its radioactive substances affect it far away.
Tensions between Moscow and Ukraine seem to be increasing due to this claim of Russia. Russia is struggling to stop Ukrainian troops advancing in the southern part of Ukraine and is building defense corridors everywhere to stop Ukrainian forces. Russian Defense Minister Sergei Shoigu accused Ukraine of provocation in phone calls to his counterparts in Britain, France and Turkey. He also spoke to US Defense Secretary Lloyd Austin in his second call in three days, but Russia did not say whether the Dirty Bomb was mentioned in their conversation or not.
Dirty bombs are no less dangerous
A dirty bomb is a device that uses explosives to scatter radioactive materials. This bomb is not as destructive as a nuclear explosion, but it can pollute a large area. The Russian Defense Ministry said Shoigu had raised concerns about possible Ukrainian provocation, including a dirty bomb. Britain has vehemently rejected these claims. In his conversation with British Defense Secretary Ben Wallace, Shoigu alleged that Ukraine was planning to do so at the behest of Western countries.
Russia blames western countries
The defense minister also reiterated UK and broader international support for Ukraine and expressed a desire to de-escalate tensions, the ministry said. Adviser to the Ukrainian President Mykhailo Podolyak also rejected Shoigu’s claims. The French Armed Forces ministry said Shoigu told his counterpart Sebastine Lecornu that the situation in Ukraine was rapidly deteriorating and heading towards uncontrolled tensions. Russian officials have repeatedly claimed that Ukraine could use a dirty bomb and blame Moscow for it.
