US General Frank Mckenzie on Afghanistan Collapse: A senior US official has blamed the Doha agreement for the collapse of the Afghan government and military. This agreement was signed last year during the tenure of former President Donald Trump. General Frank McKenzie, the head of the US Defense Department’s Headquarters Pentagon, told the House Armed Services Committee that when President Joe Biden decided to reduce the number of troops to less than 2,500 in April, the US The collapse of the supported Afghan government had begun.
Frank McKenzie said, “The signing of the Doha Agreement has had a really damaging effect on the government of Afghanistan and its military.” The biggest impact was psychological, but we had set a certain date when we were going to leave and when we could expect all the help that he got to end.’ On February 29 last year in Doha, Qatar, the Trump administration had signed an agreement with the Taliban. In which it was promised that by May 2021 the US would withdraw its entire army and in return the Taliban would have to fulfill certain conditions.
President Biden did not pay any attention
The conditions promised by the Taliban include stopping attacks on American and coalition forces (US Taliban Doha Deal). The deal was intended to spur peace talks between the Taliban and the Afghan government, but has not received much attention since Biden took office in January. McKenzie said he foresaw that if the US reduced the number of military advisers in Afghanistan to less than 2,500 “for a long period of time”, the Kabul government would inevitably fall, and then the military would be the same.
The agreement worked to demoralize
General Frank McKenzie (Frank McKenzie on Doha Deal) further said that the Doha Agreement has acted to demoralize. The Biden administration then ordered a military reduction in April, marking the “second nail in the coffin” of the 20-year war. Because due to this the US military stopped paying attention to the situation inside Afghanistan. The soldiers knew that they did not have to stay in the Afghan military unit for long. Defense Minister Lloyd Austin expressed support for McKenzie’s words and said that he had done a very accurate analysis.
