Political tussle is going on in Pakistan regarding the appointment of new army chief. Pakistan Defense Minister Khawaja Asif had earlier denied that a list of possible names had been sent to the Defense Ministry and the Prime Minister’s Office. Now the Inter Services Public Relations, the media wing of the Pakistan Army, has told this statement of his as false. He has said that the Joint Chiefs of Staff Committee on behalf of the General Headquarters and chief of army staff The list of possible 6 names has been sent to the Defense Ministry.

The most senior of these names is that of Lieutenant General Asim Munir. After this, the names of Lieutenant General Sahir Shamshad Mirza and Lieutenant General Azhar Abbas are included in it. In fourth place is Lieutenant General Nouman Mahmood. At number five is former Director General of ISI, Lieutenant General Faiz Hameed. The name of Lieutenant General Muhammad Amir is in the sixth place. One of these is to be appointed to the post of Joint Chief of Staff Committee and Chief of Army Staff.
Bajwa is retiring on 29 November

The current Army Chief Qamar Javed Bajwa will retire on 29 November. Under the Pakistan Army Act (PAA) 1952, the Ministry of Defense will issue a discharge summary document to the current army chief to pave the way for the appointment of his successor. General Bajwa is retiring on November 29 after three years of service extension.
Earlier it was said that the report was received by the PMO.

Earlier, The Express Tribune newspaper quoted sources as saying that the PMO has received the Defense Ministry’s report on Monday regarding the appointment of the new army chief. According to the news, there are names of five top generals in the report. The paper said that the PMO had not confirmed receipt of the report from the Defense Ministry.
