The most dangerous corona variant ever surfaced in Botswana! Nu Variant with 32 mutations raised concern

symbolic picture

A new variant of Coronavirus has been found in Botswana, which is the most mutated version of the virus. British experts have expressed concern about this new variant that has surfaced. So far 10 cases of this new variant have been reported. Soon it can be named as Nu variant. It is a matter of concern that so far cases related to this variant have been found in three countries. In such a situation, it shows that this variant can spread rapidly. Worldwide, the virus is being controlled through vaccination, but new variants are emerging as a concern.

This virus is equipped with 32 mutations, so there is a risk of it spreading rapidly and becoming vaccine-resistant. In addition, it has more spike protein than any other variant. Professor François Balloux, a geneticist at University College London, said that these variants probably emerged due to a long-lasting infection in a patient with a weakened immune system. Perhaps this patient must have been someone who had AIDS. Due to the variation in the spike of the variant, the current vaccine has to face difficulty in fighting the virus. This is because these vaccines are capable of fighting the old version of the virus.

This variant is more dangerous than the delta variant

Dr Tom Peacock, a virologist at Imperial College, described the combination of mutations as “terrible”. He warned that the B.1.1.529 variant is the most dangerous of all variants. This variant is even more dangerous than the Delta variant. However, scientists told MailOnline that an unprecedented number of mutations could work against it and make it unstable, preventing it from spreading. He said that there is no need to be overly concerned, as there are no signs yet that it is spreading rapidly.

Variant revealed in AIDS patient

So far three cases have been detected in Botswana and six in South Africa. Different types of surveillance are stronger in both these countries. A case has also been reported in Hong Kong in a 36-year-old man, who recently returned from Africa. Professor Francois Balloux, a geneticist at University College London, said that looking at this variant, it seems that it appeared in an AIDS patient, because their immune system is weak. At present it is being monitored. Nothing to worry about as of now. But it is important to keep an eye on it.
