Glasgow Summit Security Guards made serious allegations
COP26 Security Guards Allegations: Recently, a climate conference was organized in Glasgow, Scotland, in which the heads of state of countries from all over the world arrived. The accommodation of government representatives was arranged in a five star hotel. Luxury vehicles were arranged for them, so that they could easily move from one place to another (Climate Summit). But in this conference, those working as security personnel have accused themselves of being treated like animals. These people were accommodated in a single room with 40 beds.
According to local media reports, security personnel looking after government representatives from around the world at the summit in Glasgow were accommodated in a 40-person room set up in a lounge at the venue itself. Security personnel complained that they were treated in a degrading manner and kept in crowded places (COP26 Climate Summit). Even the proper beds were not given to sleep. That too at a time when the cases of corona virus are increasing rapidly in western countries.

Talking to the British newspaper The Guardian, a security guard said, ‘We were treated like animals. We had to take our food back to the same room, which was filled with the smell of heat and sweat. We had to eat in the same room. There were dirty showers for bathing (Glasgow Climate Change News). No sweeper was hired as it was not considered necessary for us. Local media have alleged that government representatives were asked to submit negative reports of the coronavirus daily but the security personnel were not asked to do so.

Another employee said, ‘We were not even investigated for a day during the summit. We were sharing a bed during the day and sleeping next to each other at night. We were not safe from corona virus because we were not tested even for a day. Security personnel were initially asked to provide information such as their immigration information, identity proof, Security Industry Authority (SIA) license (COP26 in Covid-19 Situation). The personnel, however, claim that they were not asked to produce those documents and evidence upon arrival at the conference.
