Mullah Mohammad Hassan Akhund, the caretaker prime minister of the Taliban government, met the Foreign Minister of Qatar on Sunday. This is the highest-level foreign visit by a leader in Afghanistan since the Taliban captured Kabul last month. Qatar’s Foreign Ministry said, Sheikh Mohammed bin Abdulrahman Al-Thani met Mullah Mohammed Hassan Akhund. During this, he called on the new rulers of the country to involve all Afghan parties in national reconciliation.

It has been told in media reports that both the sides held a meeting at Rashtrapati Bhavan. During this, bilateral relations, humanitarian aid, economic development and dialogue with the world were discussed. According to Qatar’s Foreign Ministry, Sheikh Mohammed and Taliban Prime Minister Hassan Akhund discussed concerted efforts to deal with terrorist organizations that threaten the stability of Afghanistan, ways to increase peace in the country and ways for people to get out safely. Of. Qatar’s foreign ministry said Sheikh Mohamed urged the Afghan authorities to involve all Afghan sides in a national reconciliation.

The Qatari people have stood by the Afghan people in difficult circumstances. The talks also noted the importance of international aid to Afghanistan. Qatar’s Foreign Minister expressed hope that Afghanistan and Qatar will have good relations in the future.

The meeting was attended by Taliban Deputy Prime Minister Abdul Salam Hanafi, Foreign Minister Amir Khan Muttaki, Defense Minister Yakub Mujahid, Interior Minister Sirajuddin Haqqani and Intelligence Chief Abdul Haq Wasiq, among many other ministers. The Qatari Foreign Ministry said Sheikh Mohamed also met Abdullah Abdullah, a senior official of the previous Afghan government, and former Afghan President Hamid Karzai. This meeting comes at a time when the Taliban announced a caretaker government in Afghanistan on September 7. Qatar is considered one of the countries with the most influence on the Taliban.
