Omicron variant cases increasing worldwide
Omicron Variant World Cases: There is a sudden increase in the cases of infection due to the Omicron variant of the corona virus worldwide. This variant, which first surfaced in South Africa last month, is wreaking havoc in many countries including Britain and America. To prevent this, governments have increased the rate of testing and vaccination, as well as tightening the restrictions. Due to this variant, a new wave of infection has come in South Africa, Britain, France, Italy and many other countries.
The number of children being hospitalized in New York, USA is increasing. The New York State Department of Health said in a statement on Friday, ‘This rate is related to COVID-19. In New York City, the hospitalization rate for children under the age of 18 has quadrupled. This was seen from December 5 till this week. The department says that half of these children are under the age of 5, who are not yet eligible to receive the vaccine (New York Children Covid Hospitalized). On an average, about 190,000 new cases have been reported daily in the last seven days in the US. According to the CDC, more than 76 percent of the total corona cases in the US are from the Omicron variant.
What is the condition of the most affected countries of the world?
France- Health officials of this European country said that for the first time in the epidemic on Sunday, more than 100,000 virus cases have been registered in a single day (Omicron Variant World Statistics). More than 1,000 people have died of the virus in France in the past week, bringing the country’s total death toll to more than 122,000. In Paris, more than 1 out of every 100 people have been found infected with the infection last week. In the last one month, the rate of hospitalization of patients has doubled.
Britain- Here the Omicron variant (Omicron in UK) is spreading rapidly. More than 100,000 cases are being reported in the country within a day. A record 122,186 cases were registered for the third consecutive day on Friday. While 137 people died. Omicron’s threat has been talked about in the data released by the Office for National Statistics. In Britain, 17 lakh people have been infected with COVID-19 till 19 December.
Italy- Italy has reported 24,883 new cases within a day on Sunday after three consecutive days of record cases. This number was less than the 54,762 cases reported a day earlier. Italy’s Health Ministry said that 54,762 new cases have been reported on Saturday. Whereas 50,599 cases came a day earlier. The ministry has attributed about a third (28%) of the total corona cases to Omicron.
South Africa- According to data from the National Institute for Communicable Diseases, the number of people hospitalized due to COVID in South Africa increased to 9,114 on Sunday. The positivity rate has also increased to 27.2 percent from 25.7 percent a day earlier. The highest (28 percent) of the new cases have been registered in the Western Cape province.
India- The number of Omicron cases in the country stood at 508 till Monday morning. The maximum number of 141 cases have been registered in the state of Maharashtra. This is followed by 79 in Delhi, 57 in Kerala, 49 in Gujarat, 44 in Telangana, 34 in Tamil Nadu, 31 in Karnataka, 23 in Rajasthan, 10 in Haryana, 9 in Madhya Pradesh, 8 in Odisha, 6 in Andhra Pradesh and West Bengal. -6, 3-3 in Chandigarh and Jammu and Kashmir, 3 in Uttar Pradesh and 1-1 in Ladakh, Uttarakhand and Himachal Pradesh (Omicron Variant Cases India).
