Prime Minister Narendra Modi has completed a 2 -day Argentine tour. PM Modi's Argentina Yatra is not only historical, but has also brought a strategic turn in India-Latin America relations. This is the first bilateral visit of an Indian Prime Minister after 1968. PM Modi started his visit by paying tribute to Argentina freedom fighter General San Martin. After this, President Xavier Milei welcomed him with a formal Guard of Honor at Casa Rosada (Rashtrapati Bhavan).

There was a discussion between India and Argentina about several major areas in which the two leaders agreed to increase the bilateral trade regarding the business and commerce. India sought cooperation from Argentina in the expansion of India-Markosur Precious Trade Agreement (IMPTA). Agriculture and dairy products agreed to increase market access. With which a meeting of Joint Working Group on Agriculture will be held soon.
What did India say to Argentina on health and pharmaceuticals?
Cooperation in areas such as health and pharmaceuticals between the two countries, India requested Argentina to shift Indian pharma companies from ANNEX II to ANNEX I so that Indian medicines can get approval quickly and easily in Argentina. Argentina said that drugs that are approved by US FDA or European Medical Authority (EMA) get fast-track import clearance. Along with this, cooperation in telemedicine, digital health, and medical training was also agreed.

Cooperation in minerals, energy, defense and space fields
Argentina's huge reserves of shell gas have emerged as a major area of interest for India. Argentina is also concluded in Lithium, Copper and Rare Earth Minerals. India made it clear that it considers Argentina a reliable partner of energy and minerals. Argentina has shown interest in defense systems manufactured by India, in 2007, Argentina launched the first satellite from ISRO. Now both countries will cooperate in satellite development, launch service, application and capacity building. PM Modi insisted on emerging private space startup ecosystem in India. Both countries agreed to strengthen defense technology and capacity partnership.

In the lunch diplomacy of PM Modi and Milai, many issues were discussed. PM Modi told how revolution is being brought in India's drone agriculture, medicine delivery, border security and land survey. How to prevent drone IUU fishing and help in power transmission line monitoring. Argentina has shown special interest on this. PM Modi said that India's drone Didi scheme is empowering rural women. Through UPI (Unified Payment Interface), the revolution in India has come to the focus in financial inclusion and tax collection, it has caught Argentina's attention. To understand this system, President Milai said to send Argentine's Central Bank delegation to India. PM Modi invited Argentina to join the International Big Cat Alliance (IBCA) which is a global platform to protect species like lions, tigers, cheetahs, Jaguar.
Sports, Youth and Startup Cooperation
In both countries, it was agreed to cooperate in sports management, youth exchange and startup innovation, adding India's cricket and Argentina's football heritage. The possibilities of India's third largest startup ecosystem were also discussed. The two leaders admitted that countries like India and Argentina can exchange resources, technology and knowledge and become the voice of global South. PM Modi invited President Milai to visit India and invited to see the lions of Gir of Gujarat.
