Nepal Plane Crash: The plane crashed at an altitude of 14,500 feet in Thasang-2 of Mustang district of Nepal. The aircraft turned right instead of turning left due to bad weather and crashed.
Bodies of all 22 people aboard the crashed Tara Air plane in Nepal have been recovered. A total of 22 people, including four Indians, were on board the plane. It crashed in the mountainous Mustang district on Sunday, minutes after taking off from Pokhara. Nepal Army spokesperson Brigadier Narayan Silwal tweeted and said, ‘The last body has also been recovered. Arrangements are being made to bring the remaining 12 bodies from the accident site to Kathmandu. The Civil Aviation Authority of Nepal (CAAN) had said that 21 bodies have been recovered from the accident site. According to officials, rescuers resumed their search operation on Tuesday morning to find the last body.
CAAN had told on Monday that 10 bodies have been brought to Kathmandu, while another 11 bodies have been shifted to the base camp from where the rescue operation is being conducted. Tara Air’s Twin Otter 9N-AET aircraft went missing in the mountainous region of Nepal shortly after take-off from Pokhara on Sunday morning. A total of 22 people, including four Indians, two Germans and 13 Nepalese nationals, were on board the Canadian-made aircraft. This plane was going from Pokhara to the famous tourist town of Jomsom in central Nepal.
President, Prime Minister expressed grief
President Vidya Devi Bhandari and Prime Minister Sher Bahadur Deuba have condoled the death of the crew members and passengers in the plane crash. The government has constituted a five-member inquiry commission headed by senior aeronautical engineer Ratish Chandra Lal Suman to find out the proper cause of the plane crash. Pradeep Adhikari, Director General of CAA, told the meeting of the International Committee of Parliament on Monday that the preliminary investigation revealed that the aircraft turned right instead of turning left due to bad weather and crashed. CAAN issued a statement on Monday saying that the plane crashed at an altitude of 14,500 feet at Thasang-2 in Mustang district. Search and rescue teams and other personnel of Nepal Army, Air Dynasty, Kailash Helicopter, Fishtail Air Helicopter were deployed at the crash site.
Four Indians were present in the plane
According to the list of passengers released by the airline, four Indians were present in the plane. They have been identified as Ashok Kumar Tripathi, his wife Vaibhavi Bandekar (Tripathi) and children – Dhanush Tripathi and Ritika Tripathi. This family was a resident of Thane district of Maharashtra. In the picture released on social media, only the rear part of the aircraft and a whole (wing) is visible. In 2016, another Tara Air plane crashed on the same route after taking off. All 23 people on board the plane were killed in this accident. Tara Air is the newest and largest airline providing air service in the mountainous areas of Nepal. This information has been given on the website of the company.
