Hundreds of people participated in a yoga session organized by the Indian Embassy at the prestigious Washington Monument in the US ahead of the International Day of Yoga. People from different areas including the US administration, Parliament came to this program organized on Saturday.

American organizations including Indian diaspora have also cooperated in organizing this yoga program. There was a lot of enthusiasm among the local people regarding this special program. Hundreds of people took part in this program organized at Washington Monument. Director of NSF called Yoga the biggest gift in the world. So there the Indian Ambassador (Indian Diplomat) said that yoga leads to physical, mental and spiritual well-being of a person.
Dr. Panchanathan was invited by the Embassy of India as a guest for the Yoga program organized at the Washington Monument. Hundreds of people participated in the Yoga session organized by the Embassy of India at the prestigious Washington Monument here ahead of International Yoga Day (June 21). . People from various walks of life, including the US administration, parliament, industry, diplomatic corps, media and overseas Indians, participated in the event organized on Saturday. People were excited to take part in the program. A large number of people reached Washington Monument to participate in it.
NSF director calls yoga the biggest gift
Dr Sethuraman Panchanathan, Director of the US National Science Foundation (NSF), said that Yoga is the biggest gift India has given to the world. Dr. Panchanathan was invited as the guest of honor at the event organized by the embassy in collaboration with several expatriates and American organizations. The Director of NSF said that Yoga is a strong force uniting all geographical regions and borders. People all over the world are adopting yoga.
Yoga leads to physical and mental well-being – Sandhu
A general yoga protocol session was conducted as part of the ceremony, which was enthusiastically attended by the attendees. India’s Ambassador to the US Taranjit Singh Sandhu said that yoga is supposed to enhance physical, mental, spiritual and intellectual well-being. He said that in the emerging scenario of post-Covid-19, yoga is helping to achieve resilience, health, togetherness, compassion and happiness. Sandhu said Yoga is deepening important people-to-people ties and contacts, which are at the core of the India-US bilateral partnership.
Preparations are being made to organize various programs to commemorate the 2022 International Day of Yoga in all the five consulates of India located in the US, in New York, Chicago, Houston, Atlanta and San Francisco.
