Two people, including an Indian-origin cardiologist, died in a plane crash in the US state of California. The second person killed in the accident was a UPS worker who was working on the ground at the time of the incident. UPS has confirmed that one of its personnel died in the plane crash. Due to this accident, nearby houses caught fire due to which a lot of damage was done to them. According to Arizona’s Yuma Regional Medical Center (YRMC), the two-engine plane that crashed belonged to Dr. Sugata Das, an employee of the institute.
Das also died in a plane crash in California on Monday. A TV station affiliated with CBS-NBC said it was not yet confirmed whether Das was piloting the plane at the time of the accident. Born in a Bengali family, Das grew up in Pune, according to the institute’s website. He was also the director of ‘Power of Love Foundation’. It is an American non-profit organization (NGO) that helps women and children abroad who are infected or affected by AIDS and HIV. The website states that Das has two sons and lived in San Diego.
The plane crashed near Santi (California)
Das owned a two-engine Cessna 340 and was a trained pilot who flew between his home and Yuma. YRMC Chief Medical Officer Bharat Magu said in his statement, “We are deeply saddened to hear about the crash of local cardiologist Sugata Das’s plane. This plane crashed near Santi (California). Magu said, he was an excellent cardiologist and a devoted person to the family. We extend our condolences to his family, friends and colleagues during this difficult time.
Two houses burnt to ashes due to plane crash
In fact, after the accident near Santana High School in Santi, California, two houses were gutted in a fire and five other houses and several vehicles were damaged. However, before the fire spread to other houses, firefighters brought the fire under control. According to the news, at around 12.30 pm on Monday, the authorities received information about the plane crash in the area near Greencastle Street. According to the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA), the plane was a twin-engine Cessna C340 that crashed at around 12:15 pm.
ABC affiliate KXTV was quoted as saying by UPS, “We are saddened by the news of the death of one of our employees and extend our condolences to his family and friends.” We also extend our condolences to the family and friends of other victims of the accident. According to the FAA, it is not yet known how many people were on board the plane. Cessna C 340 aircraft are commonly used for business. The aircraft has a seating capacity of six passengers, with two seats in the front and two in the back.
