The tension between the US and China is at its peak at this time.
America’s President Joe Biden has made a big announcement. He has clearly said that America will defend Taiwan against China. After this announcement, the possibility of increasing tension between China and America has increased even more. Joe Biden said on Thursday that the US is committed to defending Taiwan. China always refers to Taiwan as its territory. In this way the US has eliminated the ‘strategic ambiguity’ and has shown that it is committed to the defense of Taiwan.
In response to a question at CNN Town Hall, Biden said, ‘Yes, we are committed to this.’ This statement of Biden is also special in this sense because till now the US was preparing defense infrastructure for Taiwan, but it did not talk about protecting the island. There is constant military and political pressure from China on the government of Taiwan. The US has for years maintained a policy of “strategic ambiguity” regarding Taiwan, under which it provides major military aid to Taiwan but does not guarantee security during a Chinese attack.

President Biden says the US will defend Taiwan if it is attacked by China.

Policy has not changed regarding Taiwan: White House
However, the White House told reporters that there has been ‘no change’ in US policy regarding Taiwan. “US defense relations with Taiwan are guided by the Taiwan Relations Act,” the spokesman said. We will uphold our commitment under the Act, we will continue to support Taiwan’s self-defense and we will continue to oppose any unilateral change in the status quo.’ In August, a Biden administration official said US policy on Taiwan had not changed, as the president suggested the US would defend the island if it were attacked.
China may attack Taiwan by 2025
Earlier this month, President Joe Biden suggested that there was an ‘agreement’ between China and the US on Taiwan. China has increased pressure on Taiwan in recent months and has sent dozens of its planes to the island country continuously since October 1. Taiwan’s Defense Minister Chiu Kuo-cheng said earlier this month that military tensions in the Taiwan Strait had reached the worst in more than 40 years and that China could launch a full-scale offensive by 2025. would be able. Taiwan maintains that it is an independent country and will defend its freedom and democracy.
