There is a Girls Degree College located at Wana in South Waziristan District of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Province. Here teachers are being given salary without teaching. Because of this, the future of the girls studying in the college is in danger. According to the news of Urdu newspaper Aeen, the girls’ college was inaugurated two years ago with the support of military officers and tribal leaders.
4 crore loss to Pakistan
According to the report, the national exchequer of Pakistan is losing about Rs 4 crore every month. The reason behind this is that teachers are not going to college to teach children, but they are getting salary every month. In Pakistan, such teachers are called ‘ghost teachers’, who are getting salary without teaching.
The patriarchal structure and outdated rules that define Pakistani culture are having a disastrous effect on the women population. Gender inequality is also being seen in neighboring countries. Because of this women have to face difficulty in doing education.
Pakistan worst country in terms of gender equality
According to the report of The Nation, Pakistan is one of the worst Asian countries in terms of providing quality education. In 2017, Pakistan was the second worst country in terms of gender equality. Girl students have to face many obstacles to get education. In the 2010 UNDP report, Pakistan was ranked 92 out of 94 countries in terms of gender empowerment. At the same time, in terms of gender-related development index, it was ranked 120 out of 146 countries.
