Taking a historic and shocking step, Russia has given a formal recognition to the Taliban government in Afghanistan. This is the first time a country has publicly given the Taliban rule official status.
Between this move of Russia, a debate has started in Bangladesh about the Taliban style governance. Mufti Syed Mohammad Faizul Karim, leader of radical Islamic group Jamaat-e-Chara Mainai, recently said that if his party comes to power, Sharia law will be implemented in the country.

In an interview to the US-based Bangladeshi journalist Khalid Muhiuddin, Jamaat-e-Chara Muni chief Mufti Syed Mohammad Faizul Karim clearly stated that if his party wins the national election, Sharia law will be implemented in the country and the Taliban governance system of Afghanistan will be implemented in the country.
Karim also said that minorities including Hindus will also get rights in Sharia law, and also said to adopt a good ideology of Iran. His statement is considered a serious challenge for the secular image of Bangladesh.
Awami League accused: Why is the interim government silent?
After this statement, Awami League has launched a scathing attack on the interim government and its chief Mohammad Yunus. The party questioned that “Is the silence of the interim government negligent or collusion?” Awami League alleged that after the change of power, attacks on temples in the country, targeting women and atrocities on minorities have increased.

The Awami League party has accused the Yunus government. The party has said that only last month, the horrific situation of human rights came to light in the country. In June, 63 rapes, 17 gang rapes, 7 victims, disabled, 19 children and 23 adolescent girls. In addition, incidents of 39 sexual harassment and 51 attacks were reported. Awami League described this situation as a blood -stained nation.
